Agatha
Dame Agatha Mary Clarissa Christie, DBE
If you’re an aspiring writer, keep at it – before Agatha found success with her 66 detective novels and 14 short story collections, she had six consecutive rejections. During the First World War, Agatha served in a Devon hospital, and during WWII, she worked at University College Hospital, London, where she learned a lot about poisons – that certainly came in handy. Her play The Mousetrap has been playing in London’s West End since 1952, and her books have been translated into 103 languages.
