Elizabeth
This handsome table has elegant, solid wood legs and a surface handcrafted from salvaged Ash heartwood. It’s named for Elizabeth Garrett Anderson, Britain’s first female doctor. After she was banned from medical school here, she taught herself French and studied in Paris. The tapered legs are made from solid wood. This distinctive table is hand-oiled to reveal its natural beauty – ideal for a restorative meal or your own reading, working or studying.
Elizabeth Garrett Anderson
I’m in awe of Elizabeth’s determination. She didn’t let anyone crush her dreams. When studying nursing, she attended lectures with the male students, who got her barred. When Oxford and Cambridge wouldn’t accept her, she studied in France. No one would hire her, so she founded her own hospital. And after she retired, she became the first female mayor in England.
